Success Center Staff


We at Success Center are privileged with the opportunity to provide excellent educational support and service to students, schools, and communities. Our staff possesses a breadth of experience, wealth of knowledge, and passion for learning. Get to know our staff better by reading below!

P.G. and Chelli assumed ownership of Success Center for Learning in July 2019 after purchasing the business from the original owner/founder, Pam Christian-Shipman.  P.G. and Chelli each received a B.S. degree from the University of North Texas.  P.G. also earned a M.Ed. degree from Concordia University.  P.G. has 23 years of experience as a teacher and coach and also served as the owner/operator of a prior business franchise for 2 years.  Chelli’s prior work experience consists of 25 years in the field of clinical research, including 15 years of management experience.  They have two children: a daughter, Lexi, and a son, Landry. In addition to spending time with family and friends, they both enjoy reading and sporting events.  P.G. also enjoys home audio, and Chelli enjoys writing and serving in various faith-based ministries.

Pam Christian,
Founder

Pam attended Paris Junior College before entering Stephen F. Austin State University where she received her B.Ed. degree. She then graduated from East Texas State University with a M.Ed. degree in supervision and curriculum. She has taught math, elementary school, middle school gifted/talented and high school reading. She also served as an administrator with the Paris ISD for ten years. She remains active in the business as a consultant. Pam has two children-Trase and Mally. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, cooking, and playing Pickleball. 

Patty Echols,
Center Director

Patty received her B.S. degree in mathematics from Texas A&M-Commerce, and has worked for Success Center since 1999. She is married to Lance Echols, and they have one son, Dalton. In her spare time, she enjoys supporting her son in the North Lamar Panther Band. Patty enjoys cooking, being outdoors, and spending time with her family. 

Frankie Jarrell,
Office Manager

Frankie received her B.S. degree from East Texas State University. Frankie retired from teaching after 36 years teaching Early Childhood and High School Homemaking. She is a past Region 8 ESC Elementary Teacher of the Year, and past state president of Kindergarten Teachers of Texas. Frankie is married to Jerry Jarrell, and they have two sons. In her spare time, Frankie enjoys crocheting, reading, cooking, collecting Jadeite, and working her antique booth, Powderly Lane.

Wendy Dougherty,
In-School Director

Wendy is a graduate of Paris Junior College, Texas Tech University and East Texas University. She has her B.S. and M.S. degrees. She also has School Counselor Certification. She has taught Algebra, Geometry, Science, and Computer Science. She is married to Mike Dougherty, and they have two children, Beth Ann and Ryan. In her spare time, Wendy enjoys playing the piano, cooking and working on her house.

Amelia Frierson,
Asst. In-School Director

Amelia received her B.S. Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and Special Education from Texas A&M University-College Station. She also received her Masters Degree in Psychology with specializations in teaching bilingual and special education as well as Principal's Certification. She taught 6th grade math for 3 years and elementary special education for 6 years. She and husband Matt have 3 children: Sidney, Mazy, and Grant. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends.

Virginia Pry,
In-School Liaison/Instructor

Virginia attended Sam Houston State University and Texas Women's University where she received a B.B.A. in Business Education and math certification. She has 30 years of experience teaching math and business. Virginia has two children, Ross and Ali, and two grandchildren, Kylee and Cru. She and her husband, Anthony, enjoy spending time with family.

Ruth Lestock,
Instructor

Ruth received a B.A. and M.A. from Valparaiso University and Western Michigan University. Her teaching experiences include East Texas Literacy Council, Kilgore College, McLennan Community College Adult Education, and Paris Junior College Adult Education. She has two grown children - Emily Ransom and Alex Lestock, one grandson and two granddaughters. Hobbies include bird watching, reading, gardening, and walking her dog.

Karen Baker,
Instructor

Karen has an Associates in Arts degree from Carl Albert State College and both a B.S. in Elementary Education and Masters in Reading from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She has taught 3-year-olds for the Lamar County Head Start program since 1995. Prior to that, she taught at the Choctaw Nation Head Start program for two years. Currently, Karen is the librarian at Bailey Intermediate School at North Lamar. In her spare time, she enjoys reading.

WaDonna Cherry,
Instructor

WaDonna received her B.A. from Stephen F. Austin State University. She taught 2 years at Nacogdoches High School before relocating back to Red River County. WaDonna is a Special Education teacher and has been with Paris ISD since August 1996. She is married to Roosevelt Cherry, Jr., and they have 2 sons and 1 daughter. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Ann Kuebler,
Instructor

Ann has a B.A. in biology and a minor in chemistry from Texas A&M University, College Station. She previously taught biology at North Lamar High School and was voted NLHS Teacher of the Year 2002. She is married to Kevin Kuebler, and they have two children, William and Caroline. She enjoys volunteering at the Sam Bell Maxey House and is active in the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Myrna Look,
Instructor

Myrna received her B.S. degree in Education from East Texas State University and also has reading and special education certifications. She taught 4th and 6th grades and spent over 11 years as the reading specialist at Success Center before retiring a few years ago. She has three grown children and nine grandchildren. She enjoys painting, reading, and knitting. 

Alva Mason,
Instructor

Alva received her B.S. in Mathematics from Texas A&M Commerce in 1997. She teaches Algebra 2 and Precalculus at Paris High School and has been employed there for 23 years. She was selected as Region 8 Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2007. She has a daughter, Jamie, and a grandson, Jayden. She loves spending time with family, shopping, and traveling.

Ryan Skidmore,
Instructor

Ryan is a graduate of Texas A&M Commerce where he received both his M.S. and B.S. in Biology. He teaches Chemistry, Dual Credit Biology, and Dual Credit Anatomy and Physiology at Chisum ISD where he was also named their Teacher of the Year in 2014-2015. He is married to Christie Skidmore, and they have 2 children: Nicholas and Natalie. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, movies, and fitness; he is a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Paula Welch,
Instructor

Paula retired from Paris ISD in 2019, after 22 years as a Special Education Inclusion Assistant at Justiss Elementary. She has been with Success Center since 2009. Paula has two sons, Paul and Wes, and a darling granddaughter, Myla. In her spare time, she enjoys being with family and friends.
